5 Awesome Summer 5ks in Denver

people running on roadSummer seems to be synonymous with 5k races. Maybe it’s because they’re appealing to people at all levels of fitness, or maybe it’s because they’re quick and easier (or at least easier than a half or full marathon). Think of a cause, theme or route and we can probably point you to a specific race. Here are 5 of our favorites coming up in the Denver Metro area in the upcoming months (In chronological order).

The Dirty Dash—June 16

The Dirty Dash is described as “a mud run obstacle course where a military boot camp meets your inner five-year-old’s fantasy and subsequently converts boy to man and then man to swine.”

If getting dirty and doing something a little different from your basic running course sounds like a good time, this race might be for you.

Cost: Registration is $50.

The Zombie Run – July 28

Nothing like being chased by zombies to make a person run just a little bit faster! As an added twist, you can also register to run as a zombie.

As you run the 3.1 miles through the once peaceful streets of your city, the undead soldiers are ready to chase you down. And if you’re not fast enough, you can trust some will find a tasty snack…your brain.”

Cost: For $45 you can be a runner, for $25, you can be a zombie (which includes a zombie makeover!)
